Andreas Stavropoulos
Andreas Stavropoulos (AS) after having studied dentistry in Heidelberg, Germany, and Thessaloniki and Athens, Greece, he worked a few years in private practice limited to periodontics and implant dentistry. AS joined then the Dept. of Periodontology, Aarhus University, Denmark, for postgraduate training, where he also received his Ph.D. in 2002 and his dr.odont. degree in 2011, based on preclinical and clinical studies on regenerative periodontal therapy and in association with dental implants. In 2013, AS joined Malmö University as the Professor and Chair in the Dept. of Periodontology.
AS has received several awards for his research, including the 1stBasic Research Prize of the European Association of Osseointegration (2011) and the Straumann Award in Regenerative Periodontal Medicine, conferred by the IADR (2013). He has authored several publications in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and he is member of several dental journals Editorial Boards. AS is currently Member of the Education Committee of the EAO and the Chancellor of the Periodontal Research Group of IADR.
Kristina Bertl
After graduating in dentistry at the Medical University of Vienna (2010), Kristina Bertl (KB) continued with a postgraduate education (Master of Science in Periodontology) (2012), achieved her PhD degree (2015) and docent status (2014), completed a MBA degree in Healthcare Management (2018), and published so far more than 40 papers in international journals. In the meantime, KB was working clinically at the Medical University of Vienna in the Department of Periodontology (2010-2012) and in the Department of Oral Surgery (2012-2014) as well as part-time in a private office. Thereafter, KB moved to the Department of Periodontology at the University of Malmö in Sweden. Since 2014, KB has been the representative for the ‘ÖGP Youngsters’, since 2016 board member of the Austrian Society of Periodontology (ÖGP), and from 2017-2019 junior officer of the EFP's Scientific Affairs Committee.
Christian Ulm
Christian Ulm (CU) completed his undergraduate education in medicine in 1998 and in dentistry in 1991 at the University of Vienna. He started working as a University Assistant at the Department of Oral Surgery (Dental School, University of Vienna), and in 1995 completed his postdoctoral thesis for qualification as a University Lecturer on the topic "Causes and Consequences of Atrophy of Edentulous Jawbones". From 2000 to 2012 he was the Vice-Head of the Department of Periodontology (Bernhard Gottlieb Dental School, Medical University of Vienna) and since 2012 he is appointed as Head of the Division of Oral Surgery (University Clinic of Dentistry, Medical University of Vienna). His special fields of interest are oral surgery, implantology, periodontology, maxillary sinus disorders, and anatomy and histology of atrophic alveolar ridges. CU is author and co-author of more than 108 original studies, 14 advanced training papers, and 8 book chapters and has received 11 scientific awards.
